Born on the 17th January 1982 in Kent, England, I was taught the electric guitar from the age of 5 by my dad. At the age of nine I started having classical guitar and piano lessons at Cheyne middle school. I continued instrument lessons while attending Borden Grammar School from 1995-2000 where I completed my GCSE and A-level music courses, while there I received the Vivien Hughes Prize for music. After Borden I went to Canterbury Christchurch University and completed a joint degree course in Music/Computing.
I have passed my grade 8 classical guitar, grade 5 piano and grade 5 theory exams and can play a range of acoustic guitar styles from Classical, Flamenco and Bossa-Nova; I can also play electric guitar, bass guitar and can play the drums.
I began writing my own songs and arranging them at the age of 15 and shortly after, managed to borrow a 4-track to record them. Ever since, I have been writing solidly in a number of different styles and have built up a big repertoire of music. I try to record most of my songs of which, some samples can be heard on the website. I sing and play all the instruments heard in the recordings, and also produce the tracks. I also record/produce tracks for some of my friends, for which I use the name
M.K. Productions.
Currently I am working on two projects; the first is my solo composition project, of which you can hear some examples on this website. The second project is my band, called 'Sons of Alpha Centauri', of which bass player friend Nick Hannon and myself have collaborated to write some atmospheric rock tracks. I have been in several different bands over the past few years including 'Dead Girl in the Water' (a.k.a. 'Brother Murphy'), 'Passola', 'Flick-Nipple' and 'Pariah' and have worked with Nick on several of these occasions.
